EN ISO 20471 Visibility Standard

Under EN ISO 20471, high-visibility clothing is divided into three classes. Class 1 is for low-risk enclosed areas, Class 2 for medium-risk sites (warehouses, within construction sites) and Class 3 for areas exposed to roads and high-speed vehicle traffic. The class is determined by the surface area of fluorescent fabric and reflective tape on the vest. For our production runs, we work with you to determine the right class for your area of use and plan the fabric and tape layout accordingly — so certification compliance is not an issue during inspections.

Who Is It Mandatory For?

Under Turkish Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, employers are obliged to provide suitable personal protective equipment to staff working in hazardous areas. A hi-vis vest is a de facto requirement for the following occupational groups: site and construction workers, road and motorway maintenance crews, warehouse, logistics and forklift area staff, security officers, municipal cleaning and parks and gardens teams, airport apron staff and heavy vehicle drivers. Orange: The standard for construction sites and roads — the highest contrast against grey/asphalt surfaces. Yellow: The shade the human eye perceives fastest; common in warehouses and indoor areas. Red/green/navy: Used to distinguish teams — allowing roles such as shift supervisor, visitor and quality control to be recognised on site at a glance. Production in your corporate colour is also possible; combining a fluorescent base with your corporate colour maintains both compliance with the standard and brand visibility.
